Objective

To improve the condition of existing public sidewalk by removing and replacing deteriorated sections. To fill in gaps in the currently existing sidewalk network.

Description

This project consists of replacing cracked, settled, and otherwise non-functional public sidewalks at various locations throughout the Villa of Villa Park. In addition to this, there will be miscellaneous removal and replacement of combination curb and gutter, driveways, ADA Ramps and Detectable Warnings and minimal asphalt restoration. Installation of minor lengths of storm sewers and inlets, minor drainage and utility improvements, erosion & sediment control, and restoration and other incidental work will be included in this project. 

Additionally the project will consist of the construction of mainline sidewalk where one does not currently exist of Illinois Avenue from Division Street North to the Metra parking lot as well as on Maple Avenue from Illinois Avenue to Summit Avenue

The Village will accept requests for information or clarification submitted in accordance with the above requirements until Wednesday, April 16, 2025 4:00 PM LOCAL TIME.  Requests for information or clarification received after such time will not be accepted and will receive no response.

Description
July 25, 2025Additional funding was approved this week by the village board. Locations on the 50/50 Sidewalk Replacement Program will be completed based on the date they were added to the list, until funding is exhausted. Construction is expected to resume in August.
July 11, 2025Other than final restoration, the planned areas have been largely completed. The remining work will consist of locations taken from the sidewalk program waiting list. The amount of locations will depend on how much additional funding is approved by the village board.
June, 6 2026Construction is expected to begin next week. The installation of new sidewalks on East Maple Street and North Illinois Avenue will take place first.
April 25, 2025A bid opening was held this week. The apparent low bidder is Davis Concrete Construction, Co., of Monee, IL.
April 4, 2025The project has been advertised for bidding. Work is planned to take place in two stages. The first stage will consist of the installation of new sidewalk on Maple Street and Illinois Avenue in the vicinity of the Metra station, where none currently exists. Additional locations from the annual 50/50 Sidewalk Replacement Program waiting list, represented in the plan sheets, will also be completed. The second stage will consist of additional 50/50 locations until the remaining funding is exhausted.
