The Villa Park Recreation Department will soon be seeking responsible and motivated individuals to join our Aquatic Team as lifeguards at Jefferson Pool. Lifeguarding is a rewarding opportunity to develop leadership skills, gain valuable work experience, and make a positive impact in the community. Benefits:
- Starting pay: $15.50 per hour
- Flexible scheduling—we work around your other commitments
- Free uniform package including swimsuit, shirt, tank, jacket, whistle, lanyard, CPR mask, and gear pack
- Free recertification every two years for Jefferson Pool certified lifeguards
Eligibility:
- Must be at least 15 years old or turning 15 by June 2025
- Must complete approximately 6 hours of American Red Cross online training
- $50 for the American Red Cross professional certification
- Must attend all in-person training sessions
- Must pass the preliminary swim test:
- 300-yard continuous swim
- Two-minute tread using legs only
- Retrieve a 10-pound brick from a depth of 9 feet and swim 20 yards with the brick
Certification Class Schedule:
College of DuPage Pool (Saturdays & Sundays, 12:00–4:00 pm)
- April 12, April 18, April 19
Jefferson Pool & North Terrace Park (Monday-Thursday, 8:00–11:45 am)
The American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification includes First Aid/CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and is a nationally recognized lifeguard certification. You can Lifeguard at indoor pools during the school year!
